In Q2 2022, the top five News and Magazines apps on the Android platform in the United States demonstrated a range of performance trends in terms of downloads and active user engagement, as per data from Sensor Tower.

NewsBreak: Local News & Alerts experienced fluctuations in its weekly downloads, starting at approximately 76.7K at the end of March and dipping to around 58.9K by mid-May. The app saw a recovery towards the end of June, reaching about 76.4K downloads. Weekly active users showed a slight decline from 3.4M at the end of March to around 3.1M by mid-June, with a slight uptick to 3.2M by the end of the quarter.

For Local News - Latest & Smart, weekly downloads saw a downward trend, starting at 46.9K in late March and tapering to approximately 29.1K by the end of June. The app maintained a relatively stable active user base, averaging around 278K throughout the quarter.

Police Scanner - Live Radio showed a consistent decline in downloads from 35K at the beginning of the quarter to about 26.3K in early June, with a slight recovery to 30.4K by the end of June. Finally, Apex News: Breaking & Local maintained a consistent download rate, starting at 27.2K in late March and ending at around 25.9K by the end of June. Active users for this app remained stable, averaging around 262K throughout the quarter.
